I have a Tale of the Cat daughter that I am looking to breed for the first time by the name of Tool Time Girl and am looking for advice on who she will nick well with. Suggestions?

You might want to wait until next year since it is so late in the season. If you don't hold her now you will have to next year. Just a thought.

Stud fee range? Will you sell or race the foal? Would you be willing/can you to ship her? Not sure about any of the Michigan stallions. Illinois might be closer and there are some useable stallions there.

I was thinking of the $5k - $7500 stud fee range. Would like to race the foal; hopefully keep it sound & retrain it for eventing, jumping or dressage, depending upon it's talent. I'm not looking to breed her to anything in Michigan ~ no offense intended to any stallion owner. Was currently researching KY stallions & finding it time consuming so I thought I'd cut to the chase & look for guidance.

If you want a horse who can retrain as a jumper or an eventer, you might look for stallions who have offspring proven as chasers. Sky Classic comes to mind, he's just out of your price range this year but may drop for next year. Same with Pleasantly Perfect.

Temple City is a nice choice.

Johar has the type and the breeding to jump, and he has a gelding who won a stake over fences this year. Istan is another son of Gone West with the type and breeding for both race and sport, his foals are too young yet to be going over fences.

Just an average rating in terms of a nick rating but Wilburn has some things in his pedigree that I would like to see for your mare.

I also know he has a great cardio (which is heritable....) and he is a big, tall horse so he might work for your other requirements from that perspective.

What I like about this mating in addition to the duplication of Chefs De Race sire's Chief's Crown, Mr. Prospector, Northern Dancer,Danzig, Raise A Native, Secretariat within 5 generations is the fact the chestnut color of both sire and dam comes directly from Secretariat.

At last, brogers and I agree. That is a nice hypo pedigree and I second his comments about Wilburn's physical prowess. I bred two mares to him this year, including a granddaughter of Storm Cat, out of a full-sister to Conquistador Cielo, so this foal will be bred similarly to the one he proposes. Wilburn is a stunning looker but only of average correctness.

He's within your price range too. Eddington has proven that he can sire the big horse and he's within your price range too.

Eddington is ranked 96th nationally and has 1% stakes winners. Other than Secret Circle his next highest earner is at 33K.

Do you just make this stuff up? He has at least a dozen horses that have made over $100,000. I think he has 5 stakes winners, including a new one at Prairie Meadows a day or two ago. He's 46th nationally, with over $2 million of earnings this year.

Yes, I throw a bunch of numbers in a hat and the one that comes out is the one I pick. It was 46 I mistyped it but the 1% stakes winner stands.
