breeding advice, please - Miss Muscles

Postby Northlight » Thu May 12, 2005 8:17 pm

pending vet check, it looks like we will be acquiring Miss Muscles by Vanlandingham. We're excited about this because our Advanced Event horse is Diamondham by Vanlandingham.

can I have some opinions, please, on this mare's viability as a racing broodmare? how about some sire suggestions, preferable in FLA or KY (or within 400 miles of north Georgia). Up to $5K stud fee.

what do you think about With Approval?

our idea is to breed for racing potential, but sport horse as a back up plan. We want to produce sound, durable individuals that can go the longer distances, possibly later maturing. Not fashionable, I know, but perhaps useful to an owner or trainer with patience.

Miss Muscles arrived at our place last night, and she's a sweet girl. She has a reasonably successful produce record, and we've noticed the Sweetsouthernsaint has a very successful colt out of a Vanlandingham mare.

She has a massive body on solid legs - definitely taller than the 16.1 we were told. We might want a more refined sire to balance. Also, she has lots of chrome - she's chestnut with a huge blase and three big socks.

Sire suggestions under $5K within 8 hours drive of Atlanta?
