hail to reason & hoist the flag

Postby louis finochio » Sun May 22, 2005 10:48 am

African Nights sire Southern Halo by Halo is an intriguing pattern.

Halo the gransire of AN produced inferior nicks when bred to mares that traced to the sire line of (Rabelais)

Halo was bred to 33 mares and produced 17 winners and 3 SW.

Precocity by Aferd traces to the sire line of (Rabelais)

On paper this cross would be a negative.

Hail to Reason was bred to 3 mares that traced to the sire line of (Rabelais) and produced 2 winners this is a positive.

Go with your female intutition here as your may find the right combination.

Louis, how is 3 SW from 33 foals an inferior nick? The fact that only 50+% are winners isn't all that low, considering the small sample size. (Maybe the next 33 would have had 80% winners.)
