Pedigree Query

Hello all ; new guy here ! Last summer my Wife & I took the plunge and bought a really sweet Beau Genius mare named Carly Pooh who just delivered a healthy Slew City Slew filly which was "part of the package".
Going forward I've been looking at a few stallions for 2006 ( and beyond ) and would appreciate the opinions of fellow pedigree enthusiasts. My top choice is Louis Quatorze, which is probably a no brainer, but I recently took a look at Indian Ocean who stands in Florida. Like others here we're breeding Jersey bred's - at least for now but - have mare ; will travel. Look forward to your input ; thanks !

If I had a beau genius mare I would be looking at Cox's Ridge lines.

I like Out of Place in KY as a good choice and also Sultry Song.
In FL there is Eltish and Mongoose.
and in NY is Hook and Ladder.

Thank you Jon ! I had actually thought of picking up some Cox's Ridge, although through Zavata, 'cause I thought it might add some good substance. The only thing I'm worried about though is doubling up Raise A Native which would be fairly well back but there nonetheless. I'm going to give that some more thought though 'cause it does have a nice feel to it.

I could go on...there are tons of STAKES WINNERS with inbreeding to Raise A Native. Just depends on the supporting lines and the strength of their quality and soundness. Without good supporting lines...it could be a real problem. You can have problems without inbreeding. Breed sound horses (and sound immediate family) to sound horses with class and talent and your chances are much improved, IMO, to get a talented, sound horse.

Your point is well noted - but I'd feel more comfortable with only the one raise a native source from my own mare. If I can somehow manage to get a good runner from my mare ( just had her first foal ) then I'd need to re-visit the issue in the second generation. One way or another Mr. P has to come into play.

a bit ago I submitted a Mr. P linebreed question (pedigree analysis, Dumb Prospector Question) and member "Mahubah" gave me some good advice if your intersted going back to look at the string.

I have a mare with Mr.P and wanted some info on pairing to a Mr P stud in regards to how Raise a Native ankles might come through. I know that Carly Pooh is Mr.P free but they made some comments about Raise A Native and Native Dancer you may find useful.

You know - it's interesting. I actually retained the services of a " professional " pedigree analyst to help me out with our mare since she has the uncommon Vice Regent / Vice Regal cross in her own pedigree alone without one or the other coming from a future breeding. Unfortunately I didn't care much for any of the selections that were offered ( 95% Storm Cat's...no brainer...no imagination ) but part of the analysis was that I'd have been better off getting Raise A Native via Mr. P than through the source I had. I thought that spoke volumes for Mr. P.
That's why Cox's Ridge initially appealed to me since I could always come back & use Mr. P as a second generation tool should I get so fortunate. I'll look for the thread you mentioned...sounds interesting.

Hey Jon...found the pedigree post you had mentioned. The impression I got, at least in my mare's case, is that I'd be better suited avoiding any additional Raise A Native due to all the Native Dancer I have floating around in addition to the 1 Raise A Native.
Imagine if when you're born you had a choice as to what family you'd belong to like we're trying to do here...OMG !!!

Without going into detail as to why, you might take a look at Include, Is It True, and Richter Scale. Richter Scale's best runner to date is out of a Bold Ruckus mare.
