Help with picking mare lines for 2 stallions

I'd love opinions on what I would look for in broodmares for 2 very different stallions. I might have free breedings to 2 stallions --
Horse A is NOT blacktype; he ran short & on the dirt, raced until he was 10, came off the track sound, sane & willing to be a riding horse [after earning more than $100k]. He is extremely well-balanced as a riding horse. His bloodlines are through a FL stud -- Rocamadour [IRE] through Grey Sovereign to Nasrullah; his dam is a Native Dancer line mare. [I'm thinking riding horse, but not ruling out sending a baby to the track.]
Horse B is blacktype. He ran long [really long] & favored the turf, although he also ran on the dirt. He is by Kris S.
I have lots to learn. But to start, I have a few specific questions:
1. Let's say I have mares. Conformation aside, what would I look at on each to differentiate which to breed to each horse? [Let me know if you're thinking race horse or sport horse] If it helps, I've got 3 mares in mind -- one is by a Seattle Slew son, out of a Mt. Livermore mare; the 2nd is by a Northern Dancer grandson [not an especially well-known one], out of a Raise a Native mare. The 3rd is by a Conquistador Cielo son, out of the 2nd mare.
2. Let's say I am buying the mares. Any suggestions for what I should look for, to match with each stallion? [Again, are you thinking race or sport horse?]
3. Most important of all -- what questions SHOULD I have asked, that I didn't? [Probably the REAL learning part of this exercise!]
Thanks, all, for sharing your knowledge.
