Breeding for color/eventing (potentially, in the future)

Postby Rushtawin » Fri May 26, 2006 2:50 pm

What sort of TB sires should I be looking for to get a dilute foal from Tyler's Run (2003), if I were to choose to breed her in the future? She's halfway between 16.0 and 16.1hh (as of December 1st, 2005), and various vets and farriers say her conformation and movement are correct. I'm hoping to find an affordable sire that is as well.

My main interest is to breed a horse who can also event. I tend to like height on the horses, preferably 16.2hh/+. I don't plan to breed her until she's older, but I figured trying to find out as much as possible would help me plan for the future.

I'm not against a cross to an Arabian stallion (for an Anglo Arabian foal) or a warmblood (perhaps Oldenburg, Hanoverian, or Trakehner), but with the rarity of dilute TB foals, it might have more of a commercial appeal should I ever have to sell it.

All replies/insights are appreciated.

Hi Rushtawin

We stand Guaranteed Gold, a 16.1hh cremello TB stallion that 100% guarantees a dilute colour for your foal.

You can see pictures of GG and his foals at:

http://www.angelfire.com/on3/TrueColour ... lions.html

Click on his main picture to take you into his personal photo album and then you can click on the various links down below ...

We would be about 60-90 minutes from the Lewiston, NY border, so depending on where in New York you are located, we'd be pretty close for your mare to come up to be Live Covered as well ...

GG tends to throw foals bigger than he is, even out of genetically smaller mares like Arabians and Morgans.

This is a picture of my TB filly - Faux Finish - taken about 3 weeks ago. She is coming 2 years old on June 1st and she is just a shade under 16hh now (her dam is 16.1hh) and we feel she will hit 16.2hh or possibly even taller ...

and a picture of my James Blonde TB colt, by GG again, pictured at one month old:

and another GG TB filly - Annie - pictured at one month:

and finally a picture of Faux Finish once again at a show taken 10 days ago ...

and a lovely 20 month old TB colt by GG as well:
