Hi,
Rodeo's appeal was based on his thrilling first race and that he is by Gone west.
His mares were all over the map. Some dismal and quite a number of decent NY mares. Certainly he had enough mares to have proven himself.
His biggest problem was that many of his 2yos bucked and had other assorted training injuries as juveniles, so he was dead going into his second year where he did somewhat better. By comparison though, he had more chance than most NY stallions and simply didn't get enough quality or soundness.
His initial sales results were good because he gets an athletic looking, often flashy foal, but may were short on bone, flesh and structure.
In Louisiana you might want to consider Leestown who is having a good year and has more substance in pedigree, performance and phenotype.
Regards,
Pete

I will not elaborate but I am not a fan of Rodeo myself and I am a breeder in La. There are alot of stallions coming here but "alot" is the key word. Most are just reject horses that could not cut it where they were before. The stud business is booming here but the problem is what it has always been a lack of quality stallions.
