Garbu by Strawberry Road

Postby TomFool » Thu Apr 20, 2006 12:08 pm

Some of you may remember this guy he was a nice turf miler for Bill Mott & being an Allen Paulson horse. He had quiet a bit of ability with tactial speed. His dam Sauna was a G3 winner in Aus & G1 placed. Strawberry Road I always thought was an underrated & very good sire but is most noted as a broodmare sire. The onlt colt I know of by Garbu is Garbu Road who ran here at Oaklawn this year broke his md in his second start & then won a nice alw-op-claimer wire to wire & then stretched out but with no success in the Northern Spur stakes. He is a very stout QH built horse that has alot of natural speed & I expect him to become a stakes winner on turf if he stayes healthy. His dam was a minor blacktype mare I believe & is by OK stallion Haymarket who is by Danzig & is a half to Rahy. I'm sure the family is not much to speak off but Garbu Road is not a bad horse at all. I think Garbu covered one mare last year in OK for a 1k advertised fee. You could not sell one or maybe even give it away but those of you breeding to race may want to take a second look at this guy as I have had my eye on him sense he went to stud. Thoughts?

Word of warning. Don't leave your mare at the farm, if you want a Garbu, haul the mare to the farm, breed, and haul out.

It has been a long time ago, but I've seen Strawberry Road running in France, thought he was quite an impressive horse.

Hi Guys,

Where does Garbu stand? I really like the double of Alibhai in his pedigree.
