I think it all depends on what kind of horse you're looking to breed. American turfers generally don't sire good selling foals, but they often sire good "breed to race" type horses.
I think at roughly the same price, War Front is a better value than AS (assuming he nicks correctly with my mare). there's much more versatility in the family...and a young horse with Danzig blood can pop up at any time and sire a good one.

I really like him.. but they aren't "dealin" at all.. I'm going to see him and Bellamy Road anyhow.
Madelyn, did you get to Hurricane Hall to see these two stallions? Would like your opinion if you did. You're such a straight shooter; I value your opinion.
I am thrilled I was able to get one of my mares to him
They were quite particular about what they wanted - but I am a little distressed to see he is going to cover 140 mares
- that seems like alot to me!

I finally got over to Hurricane Hall on Thursday.
Artie is tall and leggy. His left foreleg is his only flaw, with the cannon set out about 10 degrees, but could be from racing (if he pulled his suspensory, etc.). He certainly was enthusiastic. The groom was not able to get him to stand still for more than a second, no matter how hard he tried. Artie thought it was BREEDING TIME (nearly 2pm) AND WHY DIDN'T WE HAVE A MARE WITH US??
Regarding Bellamy Road... well you can do MUCH better conformation-wise for much less money elsewhere. I would have to see offspring to see if he out-throws himself.

I think Artie is going to be a solid sire for years to come. I'm betting his offspring will be good on turf, dirt, mud and polytrack. Just my opinion.
I heard that if you got to him early it didn't much matter about the mare's credentials, but after they saw how popular he was, they were turning mares away almost everyday.

Hurricane Hall is also looking at a deal to possibly shuttle him.
They are shuttling him, he'll be on 22.5 down here which is reasonable and should do well, I think he might be the first El Prado to come down under too so that's good news, he's certainly a little more versatile than most sadlers wells
