Day rates and vet bills can eat up more than the stud fee, but thats something you have to be ready for.. worst sittuation i was ever in was sending a mare and foal to a older stallion in NY from feb15th till the end of may, with numerouse excuses about her not getting in foal. when i got her back, yep she is in foal that was 2006, there was a report of 0 mares covered by that stallion in 06, and 07... so where the hell was my mare and who was breeding her! someone collected months of board and if he is fertile il kiss the owners ass!

Casallc.
That is one thing I am thank full for. GF got really good mares for his first year. A couple of G2 producers, a full to older mare of the year whose yearling was the 2nd highest fillie sold at the Preferred in TO. some really good/well bred race mares. We did not get any crappy mares. Plus really good owners. Everyone paid there bills on time and no one complained about it either. One thing is for sure if GF makes it big ( relatively speaking) we will support all the people who supported us in the beginning. It is a win/ win for us because we can race all our own babies. All the money I would pay out in stud fees now goes to my own raising and training for racing. Hopefully we get some good ones of our own. :D
