agceee humerous but are u knee jerking too fast? speed, scope, strength, what do you want in a stallion? do they all have to be by ap indy or mr. p? afternoon delites was summarly evicted from ky. so do we hold that against him becauase some of those ky hardboots lack all their marbles? lite the fuse comes to mind, sea of secrets, numerous others. i'd breed to RS in a ny minute. if u want a derby prospect he looks pretty good in that stallion photo.

Osidy is benefitting from big fish syndrome. I do like him a lot, but I'm not sure I'd like him as much in a market with more options like KY or FL.

IMO, Richter Scale would do better in a smaller market.. like Idaho. I just have never liked him as a sire. It sounds like he's going to be well supported by in-house mares, but there are better options out there.

Many stallions outrun their pedigrees but few ever outsire it.RS has sired a mere 34% winners from foals with 1% Stakes Winners in 5 Kentucky crops 3 and up and thats breeding Kentucky mares.Louisiana's mare pool is somewhat lighter yet.

Thats the biggest problem I'm seeing with these suddenly enhanced casino enriched racing states.Everyone and their son's and daughters are bringing in stallions but their not upgrading their mares. If you don't have the mares it makes no difference who you breed them to.

At least,to me Leestown has proven himself with the pool of mares there.Kinda like Blumin' Affair,Sharkey and King Of Scat have here in the Midwest and Kipling did in Oklahoma.

I think you have to look beyond the race record on Richter Scale because he is one that received a lot of opportunity in Kentucky with not much luck.

Sincerely-Jeff

I trained a daughter of RS last year - claimed her from Dale Baird. She was taking big drops so we knew we were taking a chance on her soundness. She was a very fast mare, built like a sherman tank.

I believe we ran her 3 times:
Won, a second, then a catastrophic breakdown. She had all the heart, talent and desire in the world, just didnt have the wheels.
