Though he wasn't a top TB stallion, Murrtherblurr sired a bunch of QH runners. He had several black type Quarter Horses. Because of my advanced age, and late hour, none come to mind at the moment.

Just a note pass em up (tb) was probably one of the more highly used thoroughbreds to cross with quarter horses for racing. He's here in the database.

Some farms in quarter horse country keep TB stallions to be bred to TBs, some to QHs and some to both. Outside the major farms in KY, NY, FL, and CA, most farms have room in their schedules for more mares to be bred. I remember Lazy E Ranch in OK used to stand TBs, QHs, and a paint. I can't remember the name of the TB stallion that was mostly used by the QH breeders, but that horse rarely serviced TB mares.

Some other well known studs that have more that a few QH babies are:

Phone Trick, 27 QH foals, 19 performers, 4 stakes placed.

Salt Lake. 28 QH foals, 19 performers, 1 stakes placed.

Is It True, 12 foals, 6 performers 1 stakes placed.

(The "stakes placed" means 1st thru 3rd in the above instances. Can't find out for free is they were stakes winners or placers.)

Henthorn you are thinking of Coup de Kas. Pass Em'Up was a really nice cross on QH mares. My dad really liked him, but probably the most famous TB producers of QH stock were Beduino and Raise Your Glass

Exactly, (Grand Slam), in fact I think D.W.L had a champion Quarterhorse by Grand Slam.

Grand Slam has sired one Grade 1 QH stakes winner, and at least one other top QH.

Groovy was bred to a lot of QH mares, as was Phone Trick.

Perhaps the greatest QH sire of all time was THREE BARS (TB), a massively built horse who was winded on the track. He made Sidney Vail a millionaire. TOP DECK (TB) was another great QH sire.

Count Fleet's half brother DEPTH CHARGE was another fast TB who made a lasting mark on QH breeding, as did AZURE TE (Nashville), MOOLAH BUX (*Mahmoud), OLD PUEBLO (*Windy City II), ROCKET BAR (Three Bars), SPOTTED BULL (*Bull Dog), RAISE YOUR GLASS (Raise a Native), *BEDUINO (Romany Royal), *NOHOLME II (Star Kingdom), HEMPEN (*Indian Hemp), ZEVI (Cornish Prince) and WHAT LUCK (Bold Ruler). I'm sure there are lots more, just can't think of any.

You are CORRECT. :D

The 2003 AQHA Champion Distance Horse was a 2000 chestnut gelding by Grand Slam(TB). His name is Heros Call.
His other stakes horse is a 2000 gelding named Oak Canyon.

Grand Slam has a total of 5 AQHA foals, 4 to race, 3 winners 2 stakes placed, (As of 12-31-2003. Haven't gotten the list of race performers for last year yet.) The youngest is a 2yo this year.
The 2 foaled in 2000 are both geldings and the 2 foaled in 2001 are both mares.

you cant look over the more popular tb studs such as Apollo, Red, Golden Ransom, Bay Head King, In Excessive Bull, Relegate etc. you can go to
www.speedhorse.com and go to the stallion statistical page for the list a list of AQHA listed TB studs
There will be discouraging times. But a life without horses;
Now that's discouraging.

Well, I have a couple past and present.

Staunch Avenger sired many fine quarters.

Boone's Mill is a DWL that continues to sire them.
