I think Behrens was more disappointing than Perfect Soul because Behrens was supported by many different breeders with classy mares. Many more breeders were hurt by the absolute lack of performance by Behrens progeny than were hurt by the Perfect Soul flops.

Perfect Soul on the other hand, has been primarily supported by one breeder (his owner/breeder Charles Fipke) who has bred 60 of his own mares to PS for many years, more than a few of those mares being $1,000,000 purchases. Mr. Fipke loves his horse and is not bitter about the progeny's lack of performance, but I am sure he is disappointed.

Give Fipke credit for doing everything he could to make Perfect Soul succeed!
A difference of opinion is what makes horse racing and missionaries.

Perfect Timber was a head away from a Grade 1 win this weekend.

But not as many as Buddha .... Behrens did not cover 300 mares his first two seasons.

I can't argue with Buddha being the most disappointing - like everyone else, I loved his first yearlings and was on them. He was the beginning of the aversion to sons of Unbridled's Song, which has been continued by more than a few others (Eurosilver, Domestic Dispute, Value Plus, Half Ours, Political Force, etc).
Songandaprayer has been useful, but never improved with the move to KY.
Even The Score has been the best, but a low libido keeps his book of mares and commercial appeal to a modest level.
The verdict is out on Old Fashioned - the yearlings are good, but many keep hearing the old Who song in our head "We won't get fooled again"!
