jenny, there are 4 tracks in LA--LA Downs, Evangeline Downs, Delta Downs and The Fairgrounds. As of today 2 tracks have turf tracks and EvD is supposed to be putting turf in this year. In essence there is turf racing year round.

New Stallions

Just noticed three stallions jumped into the LA top 10 sire list. Running Stag at 2, Snuck In at 9, & Snow Ridge at 10.

Running Stag is moving to Judice Farms along with all of Turf Express Stallions and Mares. As I stated in a previous post its around 60 broodmares from what farm manager told us last week.

I knew they were coming , I just didn't know when. TX is dieing a slow death and the ones that recognize it are pulling out sooner than later. This is no suprise to me, at least they're bringing in some decent stallions. Hopefully the mares are an upgrade to what is in LA now.

The turf course at EVD is scheduled to open in 2008. Unless something has changed.

JaradM, thanks for the EvD turf update. Have you heard of what stud fees they are going to put on those stallions coming from TX? Just curious??

larrygene,

I have not heard of what the fees will be, but I do not think Running Stag will cover that many mares at 5K. Not with his sales numbers. We will probrably have to wait until the stud book comes out in December to find out.
