Does it bother anyone that he bred no mares at all last year??? Not one mare reported as bred by the jockey club report.......
I liked him but this information made me decide against breeding.

Pokey, I think you can chalk that up to poor management. Two people had posted that they had called to inquiry at about breeding to him. They left a message and never received a response.
It's sad to see that he had not had an opportunity to have as good of a sire career as he did a racing career. Unfortunately, he couldn't pick who was managing his book. I'm hoping that this move is a rejuvenation of this stud career

About a week ago a mare here droped a Northern Spur foal we just love! Just so adorable, and quite a looker. Will post photos when I get a chance. But I'm so proud NY is giving this guy a chance. He will have a EXCELLENT crop
ummm.. he obiviously was bred last year If she has one of his foals this year
I inquired YEARS ago on this horse and was told to take my mare to a different stallion (they didn't ask one question about my mare BTW)
It wasn't last year.
Then why was he not on the Jockey Club mares bred list for 2007???
That is an official list of mares bred.
I am not saying the poster's foal wasn't just born but I just find it odd that he would not be listed on the official jockey club mares bred list.
I mean is that foal even eligible for registration??
I am pretty sure the jockey club has a deadline for submitting a mares bred list and Northern Spur is NOT on it.
That was my only point. I find that odd..and now even more odd that he did breed mares but no documentation was submitted.

I was interested in a stallion on offer at the Ocala January 2007 sale. According to the Jockey Club website said stallion had been bred to no mares in 2006. This of course raised a bit of a red flag suggesting either lowered fertility or another physical problem. When connections to the stallion failed to respond to queries about his condition we thought it prudent to pass on him.
Lo and behold when the Jockey Club live foal report came out later in 2007 it revealed that the stallion had supposedly been bred to two mares, each of which produced a live foal.
Go figure.

Interesting. It would have been a bummer if you bought the stallion and that Live Foal Report came out the following year showing bred 20 mares with 2 live foals produced. Then what??
I suppose I am just overly cautious as I don't have money to throw into the wind and every breeding year counts.....I just can't be too much of a risk taker at this point.
