I'll offer my 2 cents and venture a guess at $150k, the highest of any freshman sire.

I dont think he'll even be half of that.

I think Quality Road will start at 60K. Possibly more if he wins the BC Classic.

Do you really think QR can beat Zenyatta?

The buyers have backed off freshman sires, who would want to gamble on anything over 40K?

Include

I see Include coming down and perhaps going to a PA, LA, or out of the country (hopefully not).

I'd love to see Zenyatta win and keep her perfect record intact but I certainly don't think she's invinceable. I think both QR and Blame have a good chance of beating her. At the very least, they will give her tougher competition than she's ever faced before.

Yes if its a fast track QR can beat Zenyatta, Blame will be nearer last than first if he shows up for the race, I expect him to be retired under the banner of the horse that beat Quality Road.

race

Postby walaa » Sun Oct 10, 2010 4:07 pm

I'll be there, if anyone wants to place a friendly wager at the bar :D My God, man! what does it take to get a wager going on here  I have offered so many times to meet at the bar, at sales, at races, must be fear of losing the bar tab that scares folks off :D Well, I'll be there, and Im betting Zenyatta to win, period. I dont even think QR will be a factor, at Churchill, at 1 1/4, anyways...if anyone is so sure they all can beat her, I'll be waiting for you :) Dont be scared, my tab at keeneland this sale was only 20$ its not that scary, come on and put your $ where your mouth is, if you're so sure QR and others can beat Z, and we'll have a great time no matter who wins!!!!!!!!!

Quality Road ~ Edward P. Evans ~ Owner - Breeder

When discounting the pin hooker market and focusing on the "HOMEBRED MARKET" and the ultra-wealthy inner circle of breeders who desire the Edward P. Evans connections, stud fees are by Private Negotiations and will never be part of this public discussion forum. Exclusivity is the rule not the exception at this level. Anyone willing to dispute or to embellish this point of view is "more" that welcome to do so.

The ultra-wealthy inner circle of breeders doesn't need to desire the Edward Evans connections. They already have their own.

Regardless of what happens privately between friends, Quality Road will most definitely have a publicly announced stud fee. It seems farfetched to think that private negotiations will raise that fee to 150K when the public fee will almost certainly be lower.

As for exclusivity, QR will breed whatever number of mares Land's End decides is right for a first year sire, probably in the range of 130. If you are saying that QR will not stand at public stud but instead will service a small number of mares for the "inner circle" at a ridiculously high price, well...no. Ain't gonna happen.

Candy Ride doubles, are they going to stand QR for more in this market when CR's fee is reasonable and he's 100% more proven?
