Is there a link to the race? I'd appreciate it, and thanks in advance to whomever posts it.

Thanks guys! I wasn't sure he was going to get it done but he did and I am THRILLED!! Better late than never and all that other stuff that can be said for my late bloomer. Now that he knows what it means to actually win perhaps he'll keep doing it.

I think I've been a jinx on the fella. I didn't go to Mountaineer for this race and I have to admit I was in bed with a migraine so I didn't even watch it live. I felt like a bad mamma. I did manage to get myself up around 9:00 pm to see if how he did. Watched the replay and I am really proud of him. Ivan of course never had a doubt (but he never does  ). Came out of the race well and couldn't wait to eat his grain. Guess I'll need to make a trip to Beulah Park soon to take him some carrots since that is his most favorite treat.

Since I don't really know how to post links - I don't know if this will work or not - if so, enjoy :)

Lovely to see Vader become Invasor's first male winner!

I couldn't tell if he came on again as the chart said or if he was still running strong as the pacesetter gave way. Clearly the best! He's earned his carrots. Does he get a break before his three year old season?

Holy Invader & Napravnik

Postby Brigitte » Tue Nov 01, 2011 8:51 am

Holy Invader is racing tomorrow in a Delaware Maiden Special weight with Rosie Napravnik up. Great combo. Female jockey a first for Invasors I think.

Super excited about Midnight Vader. My gal Basic Instinct is in foal to Invasor, and I have to say I also liked that he was a sound, durable horse who didn't end his career at 3, and raced at the highest level at multiple tracks, distances, and even continents. Here's hoping Vader's win is the start of a MAJOR success story for an interesting outcross stallion.

Brigitte - I don't know if he'll get a rest for the rest of the year or not - he may race one more time since he seems to like Mountaineer and that jockey really seemed to know how to ride him.

BargainBlueblood - good luck with your upcoming foal. Vader was a lovely babe and I'll be the very first to admit a tad spoiled since he was the first foal back at my farm  . I made him a special bed in the corner of the stall with high piled straw (the vet just shook his head when he saw THAT!) and he knew it was his to lay in. I'd go down later in the evening when I'd pick stalls for the night and sit in his bed and he'd lay down and put his head on my lap. He'd still try and do it as he got older, but I quit laying down when he got bigger. He was a dream. Luckily he didn't act like a brat either. We are fortunate that he doesn't act studdish even today. All of my other foals (and I have had plenty of colts with very few fillies) have been raring idiots by the middle of the yearling summer. Vader and Damien were calm in comparision.

Mountaineer doesn't let you use your own - you have to use their generic ones that match the saddle clothes which totally sucks.

ETA - Vadar totally rocks the purple silks with pink hearts :).

yeah invasor, he was a decent 2YO but he didn't really "blossom" until.. really, until he was 4, did he become 'invasor' that we all remember.

I think if you are patient it will pay off with him.

Holy Invader ran 2nd again today, he is trained by Tony Dutrow, a man who knows what to do with his horses, especially 2 year olds. This one will not be a maiden for very long.

Cheechako and Princess Kiha entered

Postby Brigitte » Thu Nov 03, 2011 3:45 pm

Holy Invader was heavy favorite, pressed pace but no kick when pacesetter took off again says chart. Described as "a big guy", likely still developing. Patience, if you own an Invasor ...

Princess Kiha running Nov 5 in MCL at Golden Gate a mile on turf. Her first 2 races were MCL at 6f on AW and she ran 3d then 2nd, got time off.

Cheechako running Nov 6 in MSW at Churchill for $46,000 with Calvin Borel up. In her first race at Keeneland at 6.5 f she got up to 3d and faded. Now she's running at 7f so connections expect improvement. (Mary Lou Whitney).

Thanks, clh, for telling us how much more there is to being an owner and breeder than the statistics. Now when I see Vader's name I'll think of the colt with his head in your lap...

Bodembender racing again

Postby Brigitte » Sat Nov 05, 2011 8:27 pm

Princess Kiha ran second, chart says 4 wide a good part of the race, got the lead in deep stretch, but couldn't hold off the winner, second by 1/2. The winer was on the inside, blocked, so ran shorter distance. She did well on her turf/mile debut, cyber carrots to her.

Bodembender runs at St Cloud Nov 8 at 1600 meters (7.95 f) for 28,000 Euros. A bigger prize than his last and the new jock is Barzalona, who is up and coming. 9 of the 16 entered are winners already. Bodembender ran 4,4,3,2 - hope the fifth is a charm.
