Bankruptcy

Postby hpkingjr » Mon May 09, 2011 10:27 am

If memory serves, Florida and 1 other state allow you to retain with unlimited value the "home' place in a bankruptcy. It has been several years and things change but that's what popped in my mind.

I remember advising a client to move to Florida and purchase a farm there after his horses got out (several times) and a lady was killed when she ran into one. If he had stayed in Kentucky he could not protect the farm. Again it has been a while so if I am incorrect, someone please correct me.
Give the Pope and the King of England a horse and in thirty days, they'll be stealing halters.

in Washington State, your home is exempt from bankruptcy procedures. You get to keep it, no matter it's value.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him start shuttling soon. SH season is coming up.

Leroi is owned by Mark Haisfield, the son of Richard Haisfield (Stonewall), who also is the owner of the Florida farm. It may be that the transfer of ownership protects Leroi from any bank actions filed against Richard Haisfield. Although I earlier said Leroi would certainly be in KY in 2012, I now question that statement. If a bank cannot force the sale of Leroi, would Mark Haisfield sell him for a realistic number? I do not think any KY operation would be anxious to partner with any Haisfield.

Leroi may be more likely to be sold overseas than sold to KY.

There is an article that says the son paid 750,000 to own him outright from the bankruptcy sale in November.

Great news! Leroy is now in the Bloodhorse stallion register! :D I see his fee is 10K for 2011.

I may eat my words, but I'll put $2.00 to win that Leroy doesn't go anywhere..

My mare was bred to him this week, and they were pretty adamant that he is staying.

It also says in that article that the deal is that Leroi must stay in Fla thru the 2013 season.

I was just thinking if somebody with enough cash, Coolmore Stud for example, will offer enough, I am sure he will be sold.

Fireslam good luck and keep us up to date!

Does it say whether the deal precludes shuttling?

This is what it says in the advert:

Accepting serious shuttle lease proposals for consideration.

What a gorgeous horse to look at BTW!!

Did anyone else notice that his good filly Always a Princess also has the British/South American influence which is seen in Animal Kingdom.

Of special interest is her 1/2 sister by Gabby's Golden Gal, by Medaglia D'oro
whom I think is very similar to AK in his get.

Also, will there be more interest in another Candy Stripes son, Invasor?

His ad in a local publication this week says his fee is $12,500. They just can't help themselves, can they?
