hi mikec
Thanks for your description and comments re: your mare Carly Pooh. I can understand why you have such strong feelings for her...she sounds quite special.
I have attempted to twice (previously) submit responses to your previous post, but on both occasions when I attempted to submit them...they vanished...OUCH.
For now...I will submit only the name and a few comments (for fear that they might disappear again) re: one young stallion that I sense could be an excellent match for your mare...
...here goes...Chapel Royal (by Montbrook).
I expect he will inject explosive after-burner-like brilliance. That speed...coupled with the stamina that your mare appears to offer (including the presence of Vaguely Noble through his son Mississippian) could be a perfect blend...and might possibly produce a two-year-old that might go on to be a miler and/or possibly a classic-type.
Your mare offers two doses of Northern Dancer as evidenced by the 2 x 3 cross of the full-brothers Vice Regent and Viceregal. I suggest that an injection of Buckpasser (as offered through his great-grandson Chapel Royal) has been a HIGHLY successful cross with Northern Dancer.
Your possible stallion choice for 2007 (as you mentioned) Vision and Verse (on his female side) also offers a somewhat distant dose of Buckpasser...but V and V is by a grandson of Northern Dancer...and I sense it might be refreshing (if nothing else) to look elsewhere for now...and not pour more Northern Dancer onto Carly Pooh.
Chapel Royal is free of Northern Dancer...offers Buckpasser...was brilliant-fast...has conformation and a pedigree that you might like...and I suggest might be an interesting stallion for your consideration in 2007.
Thoughts?

You're right about that BJ. I've attempted to do just that on several ocassions but with absolutely no luck. Part of the problem is that I'm basically computer illiterate but I'll give it another shot.
Also want to thank FOS for his input...Must admit that I never even considered either Chapel Royal or Vicar but I'll give both the once over now.

Hey FOS,
Sorry it took a while to get back to you. Beautiful day today so Wife, Son & I went riding...humans & horses needed the work !
Well ; Louis was kind of a quirky thing in all honesty. Our mare was in foal when we purchased her so I had absolutely no planning regarding that & had oodles of time to think about the next one. We had planned all along to use a pedigree experet to help us out but My Wife & I really just liked his photo in the stallion register. We took a ride out to Md. and he looked even better in person so we pretty much were going to include him somewhere down the road no matter what. Additionally I really thought, and still do, that he was better than his numbers showed and therefore was an excellent value. If I read it right he's now hitting at about 30% winners / starters so maybe I read him right after all.
We hired two pedigree experts ; 1 who looks at pedigrees from the Mare's family ( founder of Reine De Course ) and another who gave an overall opinion but based mostly from the stallion side. We were quite surprised when both these folks came back with Louis Quatorze as their #1 choice so we figured we were just geniuses so why mess around.
Having said that - that was the only choice we cared for from one of those experts, we tossed all that person's other selections ( all storm cats ) and just recently went to Alan Porter to replace them while keeping the other individuals selections intact. From a Breed to race point of view I'm golden forever. Not sure about Alan's selections regarding Breed to sell but I've only had them about a week so I need more time to seriously look at them...they're " interesting " !!!
Thanks for asking...I love this stuff !!!

hi mikec
Louis Quatorze might very well work out perfectly for you.
I'd find it interesting to hear what other stallions are being recommended for Carly Pooh in 2007.
I say...consider hitting the speed angle etc. I sense that Carly Pooh might bring plenty of stamina to the table.
Sounds like you're taking Carly Pooh's future very seriously. Her conformation and proportion etc (noting her strengths and weaknesses) could assist in the stallion selection process. Maybe you could draw a picture of her with words.
Best to you.

Thanks for the kind words FOS ; She's our first mare, and only one at the moment, and I'm just trying like hell to do right by her. But, before we go any further, I don't want in any way to hog this board with my mare 'cause I'm positive there are a whole lot of other folks out there that feel the same about their mare as I do about mine. We're just a 2 person runt operation trying to do it right...that's all !
With that in mind, and because I really am computer handicapped, If you'd like to privately send me your email, same goes for BJ, I'd be more than happy to send you a photo of our girl as well as the stallion selections from each of the pedigree experts we used. Of course, it goes without saying, I've got ideas of my own as well that don't necessarily coincide with the experts.
As far as Louie Quatorze...I just tried to picture in my head what sort of race horse one might get by combining the toughness and class of a Beau Genius with the speed of a Louie Quatorze over a distance of ground that my mare seemed to prefer. Guess I'm 'gonna find out !!!
