Hi
I have over fifty stakes winners, and/or $100,000 plus earners out of Housebuster mares in my database, including a couple of Graded stakes winners. Housebuster is relatively young as far as his producing daughters are concerned, so I think he has a great upside as a broodmare sire.
Respectfully,
Bill

Thanks for the good words on Housebuster as a broodmare sire...I have a mare by him in foal to Leroidesanimaux. I know, terrible enick rating for the Blushing Groom double but I love the stallion and the Blushing groom tale-male....we'll see. The mare's name is House Virgin and I definitely did not name her!!

Bill from WA suggested HOUSEBUSTER because:
I would have never thought of him. He has definitely been around to have died so early. There are plenty of solid stallions standing across NA who have the same credits, though probably at a higher price than his last WV stud fee. Is there something about his pedigree or foals that make him stand at the top of your list besides the quote captioned above.
I have a mare who was bred to him before she came to me. Her filly went no where, though I don't think she was handled all that well. I was impressed with his potential cross with HTR line mares. I remember him. He was a striking horse and I like his male line. To be perfectly honest, though he was successful, I don't see much else. I'm interested in your thoughts.

Ascot Knight - standing at Windfields Farm, Canada
Ascot Knight 1984 (Danzig - Bambee T T) is showing promise as a good broodmare sire. He stands at Windfields Farm in Canada.
Where can a person check the numbers for a broodmare sire especially ones far back in a pedigree or for a sire that did not have many foals?
Very interesting topic.

Hi Shammy
I like Housebuster because his mares (so far) have done well with a variety of bloodlines, and they have been particularly succusseful with Mr Prospector line stallions (lots of them around). Many of his good running daughters haven't yet hit the breeding shed, and I look for more good things down the road when these mares start producing. Housebuster offers a speed oriented profile that seems to combine nicely with a variety of stallions that have more "classic" type pedigrees, as well as speed sires. I think he offers a lot of versatility as a broodmare sire.

Bill from WA: Thanks for your reply. I'll do some research. Like I said, HOUSEBUSTER definitely had the racing skills and I like his tail-male line, but I don't see a great deal of strength in his tail-female. Am I missing something? I'm a great believer that it's the mare that carries the athletic strengths. I need to look at his pedigree more closely.
See, to me, Housebuster's female family is one to watch. His dam Big Dreams has six well-bred daughters, the oldest being 19. Under those daughters, they're either the dam or granddam of at least 9 stakes horses.
It's a young family that has most of its best broodmares and their daughters still producing and being bred very well.

Don't be so humble - you are not that great.

Hi
I agree with Maven in that this is a female family to watch. The conduit mare for this branch of family 13 is Helen Barbee. A couple of recent performers tracing to this mare are G1 stakes placed Harvard Avenue (owned by Emerald Downs president, Ron Crocket) and G1 winner First Samurai. I think there will be many more to come.

With a limited number of foals of racing age Future Storm mares have surprised:
The 2yo filly Saoirse Abu (by Mr. Greeley) is out of a Future Storm mare and she just won her second straight Group I in ireland (her last was against males as well as fillies).
Running Lass (by Running Stag) is out of a Future Storm mare and she's earned over $400,000 winning or placing in TWENTY stakes (including a G.3 placing).
Drums Of Thunder (by Concerto) is out of a Future Storm mare and he won the What A Pleasure Stakes at two last year and this year was a good 2nd in the Grade 3 Holy Bull stakes behind Nobiz Like Shobiz.
And Wild Rex (by Wild Event) is a multiple stakes winner who is also out of a Future Storm mare.
