Be on the look-out for Win McCool, a 2YO filly by Giant's Causeway out of Win Crafty Lady. She should be making her first start in NY soon.

hi Ill-bred

You wrote "Stonesider looked very good today....green and wide trip, much the best."

I suggest there were two good performances in that race...and that Stonersider was NOT "much the best" as you wrote.

Yes, arguably he looked good...and raced a bit greenly inside early (but he did not have a wide trip as you describe). Jockey Velasquez wisely swung him five wide for the stretch drive...and he was game and did prevail by a head...but to describe him as "much the best" (as you did)...is more than a stretch.

FACT is Stonersider prevailed by a head over Thought Leader, who would have had little (or no) chance unless he "bulled between rivals" (as described by the Daily Racing Form). Thought Leader then finished gamely...only to fall a head short at the wire. I suggest that this was a very good race for both Stonersider and Thought Leader, and Stonersider was the beneficiary of a bit more racing luck (often an important ingredient) than Thought Leader, and prevailed by a head. Again...Stonersider was NOT "much the best."

Furthermore...Thought Leader was asked and willing to do something that few young horses are willing to do...bully themselves between horses to have any chance at all.

FOS-

Agreed they both ran very well.

I was focusing more on Stonesider due to this Giant's Causeway argument (of which I'm generally on your side) and b/c a few of us had been monitoring him since his purchase and wagered on him in his debut. :)

Let's watch both these horses as they move forward....
