See, it pays to follow this board as his name was brought up as a "value stallion" right here on this board...... but it looks like it's to late now. I figured one of the better sons of Storm Cat standing at stud for $2,500 wouldn't go unnoticed for long. Downthedustyroad was the "back-breaker" for the breeders in and around Arkansas. After she won the GI La Brea two weeks ago and then sold for $1.5 million yesterday, the trailer was on the way to pick up Storm and a Half and transport him to Kentucky. But beware.... while he was a "value stud" in Arkansas for $2,500 wait to see what Ky charges from his services. Anything over $5,000 and I'd stay away.... and would prefer $3,500.
PS Storm and a Half had another offspring run second in a $75,000 at Santa Anita this past week as well. So he can throw a nice horse..... but like all studs he also throughs a lot of bad horses that simply can't run much.

Once a young stud throws a GI winner their value rises, often dramatically and especially a son of Storm Cat(not all sons of Storm Cat are bad.... they're just simply over priced, save Storm and a Half... until recently anyway).
Evansville Slew never had a GI winner and while he has thrown a lot of useful horses none that catch the eye of the upper echelon of the industry.

I used an Mellon bred one for a year (vestal bell) Sire shirley heights
out of an mare by hail to reason. She was the biggest nuts you,d ever could find trainer I Baldin
Throwing 5 foals all nuts(crazy) all winning all air problems and severe bleeders later on in their racing years. So no mellon,s bred for me

Most of the folks looking for the needle in a haystack, have a lot of hay to burn!
I, for one, wish they'd burn it somewhere, where it might actually do some good, other than to put a large chunk of change into one person's pocket. Might also serve to discourage some of the kool-aid drinking, backyard breeders
Ever notice how many beer distributors have tons to plunk down for horses? The money is in BEER! Not horses

Good news for now for the midwest/southwest breeders. Very hard to find a young Storm Cat son with a Grade I winner(Downthedustyroad) that recently sold for $1.5 million standing for $2,500(he's the only one I know of). Add to that a Storm and a Half horse ran second in a Santa Anita stake a day or two later so he can put some run in a horse. Storm and a Half has an outstanding bottom side and is a half brother to Lu Ravi. I'd highly recommend him for anyone with a mare that matches.. many of the Mr Prospector sons have done well i.e Downthedustyroad is out of a Crafty Prospector mare.
But as you referrence it's hard seeing him staying in Arkansas for $2,500 much longer. Heck, he's a better stud then many Storm Cat's currently standing in Kentucky for 5-10 times the stud fee.

Dittos to Lite the Fuse ($3,500) and Real Quiet ($5,000). RQ had Midnight Lute just miss last week in the GII San Fernando at SA and Pussycat Doll has been posting some great works. Would also add Mo Mon (son of Maria's Mon) in NJ - $2,500 and had a weanling filly sell for $20K.
Horses are pure love.

Even though Real Quiet had corrective surgery and was as thin as a pencil, it's kind of hard to believe that a horse that came within 3 inches of the Triple Crown is standing for $5,000. What if he won the Belmont Stakes photo? Would the Japanese have paid a zillion Dollars to stand him in the rice patties?
