Anyone have any thoughts on him...good, bad or indifferent ? Seems to have ability to get the big horse every now & then.

He's a good breed-to-race sire, but his offspring generally don't do very well at the sales.

I have seen and or worked with several Cryptos...they tend to range from crouse think horses to tall but lanky types...but they all seem to ahve a ton of leg under them. They also seem to be gritty hard knocking horses.

Interesting thoughts ! I was reading the American Thoroughbred Review's analysis of the best & worst values, for what it's worth, and in 2005 Crypto was among the worst values for his fee. Article mentioned he was extremely inconsistent and really only has a handful of top flight runners. In 2006 he's not even mentioned. With all of that he's supposedly one hell of a broodmare sire. Confusing !

I've read many of the TB Review articles and know that if the sire cant cover his fee TB Review isn't likely to recommend.

Cryptoclearance is a nice breed to race sire and he'll generally get you a sound, solid runner. They aren't the best looking animals or sometimes the classiest, but they make money. He has done quite well early on as broodie (and I'm not saying that cause I may or may not have one )

I have one too.. I love her.. She broke her Maiden by 16 then decided she really didn't WANT to be a racehorse.
She is a sweetheart, and gorgeous believe it or not! Her broodmare sire is Deputy Minister so she should be really ugly.. ha ha

Mine's also quite lovely and out of a Broad Brush mare so she had every excuse to be ugly too

Crypto may not be all that commercial but his NY son Millennium Wind seems to have started off well sales wise

He is about 21 or 22. He did finish 2nd in the Belmont and 3rd in the Preakness and his son Victory Gallop denied Risen Star a Triple Crown in one of the most exciting Belmonts. His father is Fappiano and the most successful conduit when inbreeding to Mr. P by a long way so a mare with Mr. P would be acceptable. His mother is a double copy mare. He has close to 80 GSV and >50 dosage points. He may not have seen the best mares. He is neither handsome nor ugly IMO. He stands at Margaux Farm which is 3 minutes off 64 near Midway. Actually that should be Victory Gallop denied Real Quiet the Triple Crown, as Risen Star won his Belmont with one of the fastest times.

They've almost lost him several times to laminitis. He wears special shoes up front and doesn't get normal turnout. I was surprised when they said he's a little high-strung.
