Pollard's Vision - Great Book

Postby tbrace » Fri Jun 30, 2006 7:39 pm

We heard that Pollard's Vision ended up getting a tremendous book, in size and quality.

Any of our Kentucky, or other, friends have any info or buzz on that?

If true, we may look to try and pick up a mare in foal in the fall/winter sales.

Any info very appreciated!

Pollard's Vision is standing at a farm I really like. I know his connections are very high on him and I think they've done a great job of managing him so far.

Thanks, LSB,

I really like that farm also. They seem to really be making some young horses into studs.

Let's take an unraced young broodmare from a good family, who has had two or three foals. About time to breed to a "hot" stallion, one who is up and coming, but has some runners.

Who would you breed such a mare to at Wintergreen? She has little Mr. P., or Northern Dancer blood.

Any suggestions there, or at other farms? Need to stay under about $25,000.

Thanks for your thoughts.

At Wintergreen? Maybe Five Star Day. Other places...More Than Ready!!, Officer, City Zip, Successful Appeal, El Corredor, Broken Vow, Forest Camp.

tbrace. I just posted another thread about FIVE STAR DAY and then I noticed your post about Pollard's Vision. I don't have any numbers on Pollard's Vision yet but I get great numbers for Five Star Day in my private system. I don't know anything about the farm but I would strongly support FSD as a great choice. Good luck! brendan

I found the people at Wintergreen to be very accommodating last fall. In fact, we sent a mare to Ecton Park who, for $12,500, has numbers that compare quite favorably to Five Star Day.

That being said, I did like Pollard's Vision quite a bit. (We did not breed to him because our somewhat smaller mare did not seem a good physical match for him.) Both Five Star Day and Pollard's Vision are by Carson City. Pollard's Vision was more refined, probably reflecting the fact that he is by a Dixieland Band mare, while Five Star Day was significantly bigger, reflecting the Vanlandingham on his female side.

Can anyone tell me where they're located, or if they have a web site? There was a story on tv (TVG?) the other day about a foal "at Wintergreen" who was struck by lightening - and lived! Tho the foal was apparently blind for about 2 weeks afterwards, she survived & regained her sight. What a story! I only caught part of the story, but they (fittingly) named the foal, "Lazarus!"

You can find them at:

While you're on the site, read through their history (complete with pictures). It's really fascinating.
