Texas based Commanchero has another Stakes Winner

Postby jellac » Sun Jul 30, 2006 11:31 pm

Texas based Commanchero, an unraced son of Unbridled and sire of 2YO G3 Winner MOST FEARED has another Stakes Winner in 4YO WAR BRIDLE. With this year, 2006 representing his first sizeable crop of 2YOs to hit the tracks, the best may be yet to come. I'd expect to see some solid runners/winners and more stakes winners next year as this 2004 crop matures - if given the time to mature they seem to make better 3YO & 4YO runners, with a few early maturing exceptions.

Texas-bred War Bridle prevails in Folklore Handicap at Louisiana Downs

7/29/2006

Texas-bred War Bridle scored the richest victory of his career on July 29 when he prevailed by a nose over Random Gold in the $75,000 Folklore Handicap at Louisiana Downs. Ridden by Jose Verenzuela at odds of 12-1, the 4-year-old Commanchero colt stopped the timer at 1:16.14 for 6 1/2 furlongs. A homebred running for Jerry Durant and Bill Jordan, War Bridle increased his bankroll to $202,685 and improved his record to 15-6-3-3. Prior to shipping to Louisiana Downs, he scored in Lone Star Park’s Carter McGregor Memorial Stakes while running for trainer Tommie Morgan.

Commanchero, an unraced son of Kentucky Derby and Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Unbridled, stood the 2006 season for a $3,000 fee at Bullard Farms in Weatherford, Texas. Commanchero is also the sire of Grade 3 winner Most Feared.

Cary Noteboom’s Nuttyboom, a Texas-bred son of the late Marked Tree, finished third and pushed his earnings over the $175,000 mark. Another Texas-bred, Venemous, finished a troubled fourth as the 2-1 favorite.

Unbridled sire of Commanchero was produced from the same cross Phalaris thru Fappiano over Rabelais thru Le Fabuleux that produced Nearco, Ribot, Grundy, Danehill, Blushing Groom and Niniski.

Commanchero was produced from the same cross Phalaris thru Unbridled over Fair Play thru In Reality that produced GZ, Bold Ruler, Native Dancer, Toussaud, and Smarty Jones.

Saros the BMS of War Bridled is from the sire line of Hurry On which is in its last days.

Sire Line of Hurry On

Postby geowarrior » Wed Aug 02, 2006 10:39 pm

I hate it when I hear of Sire Lines dying out. This can't be good for the breed.

Incidentally, Jellac, speaking of rare Sire Lines, did I hear that French SeventyFive is for sale. Do you have any idea what is going to happen to him, or if he has yet produced a colt that might continue the line?
