Candy Stripes

Postby Keith » Sun Aug 06, 2006 7:53 am

Candy Stripes is the sire of Invasor and Leroidesanimaux
He is also the sire of millionaires
Lundy's Liability
Different

He is the broodmare sire of Candy Ride

Hopefully Candy Stripes can keep the Blushing groom sire line going but he has yet to be proven as a sire of sires.

I love to see him as the sire of an animal I am interested in betting in a grass event. He is a very good, if not excellent turf sire. I was very surprised to see him produce such good dirt horses.
best regards Brendan

He has been a sensation in South America and also over in South Africa. His daughter Ihla da Vittoria (BRZ) is currently the richest South African racehorse in history, after having defeated males in the Summer Cup.

His young son Equipado just started his stallion career in South Africa, and it will be interesting to see what happens. He is from a premier Argentine family, that of Empress Club, and there are enough descendants from that female family to make linebreeding to him very tempting.

I believe there is a candy stripes in my friends barn...nice little race filly...ton of heart. Now I'll have to go look and see to be sure. She did mention here not too long ago that fillie was goig to be for sale soon.

What interests me is that Candy Stripes stood for a number of years (5-7?) in the U.S., during which time he sired very few good horses. As I recall, he stood first at Taylor Made, then was sent to Florida for a spell. He probably was purchased by South Americans at the end of that stint for a fraction of what they sold him for to Taylor Made! As soon as he hit the southern hemisphere time clock, his offspring began to run like crazy again.

Candy Stripes and Rahy had a good day.

Candy Stripes has a another big horse in Invasor and Invasor deserves Horse of the Year winning on four different tracks Churchill Downs, Saratoga, Belmont, and Pimlico along with running in Dubai. How good is Discreet Cat? Lava Man has had a great year. Any three of the horses deserve Horse of The Year. Invasor, Bernardini, and Lava Man It would be interesting if they had an eclipse award for geldings. All three are deserving of Eclipse awards. Lava Man and Invasor could be co- champion older horses but that will never happen.

In Quarter Horses, they do give titles to geldings. Maybe Thoroughbreds need to follow suit!

Recently, Declan's Moon and Funny Cide were named champions and they were geldings, as well.

By titles I mean that there is a specific category: Aged gelding, etc.
