I will have to redo all these, not only are the colors dull but the glass apparently needed BRUSHING. Nothing showed up until they were all loaded on webshots and I enlarged them, fuzz city. Jeesh. But in the meantime under GAINESWAY see Officer, Afleet Alex, Ten Most Wanted and Birdstone http://community.webshots.com/user/summerhorse

Wow... just gorgeous!

When horses photograph so beautifully under "candid" circumstances, you know they're quite stunning in person...

Are you a breeder, Summerhorse, or have they decided to start allowing regular folk to visit after breeding season?

I've been to Gainesway a couple of times in the "off" season. They don't mind, although there wasn't anyone there to take the stallions out, if they were in a stall. Last time it was close to feeding time and we just walked through the barns by ourselves. Actually will be there again next week.

BTW summerhorse, great photos! Birdstone is more attractive than I'd previously thought. Looks like he's bulked up a lot in retirement :o

Nope I have rescue horses (well just one now) so i was surprised when regular fans were allowed to visit.

Cool. I went to their open house earlier this year, but my mom would love to see Alex. Perhaps I will look into it. Thanks for sharing your pics!

They were great pics! It was nice seeing my babies daddy again (I have one Birdstone colt out of Anna K. - photos of him under "foals" and another one still in KY out of Allou). I have found most of the stallion farms have always been receptive when we go. I have to admit - I was totally thrilled when I got to see Storm Cat up close!!

I'm reading a book called Stud right now and it's about the industry but it features certain stallions and stories up to 2001 and says that even people interested in other stallions at Overbrook ask 'can we just drive by his paddock before we leave so I can say I saw him?' Him being Storm Cat.

OT: This book's so fun. You find out stuff about horses like Dynaformer and Cape Town. Apparently Dynaformer's a big dumb jock of a horse and Cape Town's all into "doin' it" outside. Seattle Slew's still around at the time and they talk about him and his back operation and the author talked about the horse's first day back post-surgery (the mare ended up losing the foal during MRLS).

These photos are gorgeous! Thanks so much Summerhorse. Ten Most Wanted was the first one I saw and boy was I struck by his presence. Birdstone definitely looked bigger. I kinda went 'well I think that's Birdstone but he's kinda more powerful then I figured he'd be so maybe it's not.' And yet it was. Dunno if Officer's a mean s.o.b. but he sure looks like it.

Stud is hilarious. I don't know anyone who's read it who didn't like it. Having met Wes Lanter at Overbrook, I found the description of him in that book pretty amusing.

Birdstone is gorgeous. Didn't realize it 'til I got to see him in person, but he is a real quality animal and a credit to Marylou Whitney's breeding program.

Summerhorse, any plans to go back to Three Chimneys for another go? Not that Smarty didn't look cute with his lil mask.
