Let's see... By Concerto out of a Deputed Testamony mare that turned in one suspicious freaky performance in the Wood that made Zito blush when interviewed after the race.

Unless I missed something, how do you know he's a "natural born cripple" and not the product of what we've been discussing in the Phalaris threads ... the product of over-training.
I've never seen in the horse in person, but the pictures I've seen don't make him look like a 'cripple'. Do you have some insight on him ... maybe some drastic reconstructive surgery as a weanling (something they should have done to Buddha)? If you're basing it on how few starts he made, well, then I guess the comparison to Danzig is correct and Danzig was a "natural born cripple" as well.
I agree $10k is too much, but who knows.
Sam, I happened to have horses running at Gulfstream when BR ran an Allowance race and won by 15 lengths. I have seen him up close and personal! He is a beautiful animal but if you will refer back to the "Racing" thread about BR you will see he is a cripple. Was then and is now!! Splints are Splints and he has had them all his life!! Again I say, " A cripple is a cripple". That's why he could never compete after the Derby. Danzig was a freak but with "Blue Blood". BR would fit maybe Florida but not KY. Only wishful thinking and certainly not the price their asking. A suckers bet!!
And by the way, I always sit in the "CHEAP SEATS".

Actually, he did run after the Derby and ran a very crediable 2nd to Flower Alley in the Travers.
He was "brilliant, but fragile" -- and I've seen a lot like that -- in my mind and will clearly need a mare with solid legs under her (NO PROSPECTOR!), but I'd be hard pressed to call him a 'cripple'. I agree 'splints are splints' but I know quite a few horses that have had them and had long, positive racing careers with proper care and management. I don't think he really got either. Most of the young, precocious type like him don't.
Someone obviously made King George a good offer that he felt it would be in his best interest to accept (probably because he realized it was going to be another 4 months minimum before the horse was racing sound again and he dind't want to waste the time waiting for the horse).

Agreed. I don't expect him to be in KY for very long unless he hits big in his first crop.

snicker
I'd rather have my feet in the dirt than my nose in the air.

HI folks after reading all your stuff it occurred to me that Bellamy was the product of a lovely small farm north of Ocala outside of Gainesville, good land and a great place to raise a young horse, HOWEVER he went through the notorious 2yr old in training sales routine which may have compromised his long=term soundness as time went by. I believe that Ocala Stud got him ready and they are a fine organisation but it is an unforgiving process and I have witnessed first hand the nonsense that youngsters go through to make a big sale often stretching youngsters over their limits, ruining what could have been an interesting racing future.

Anybody know what shares are going for?
