First (stakes) winner for Smart Guy

Postby BargainBlueblood » Tue Sep 19, 2006 2:36 pm

Grade 3 multiple stakes winner Smart Guy sired his first winner when his son Secretintelligence romped to a 2 3/4 length victory in a $40,000 maiden-claiming contest on September 12 at Delaware Park.

Secretintelligence, a 3-year-old son of the mare Frenchie La Femme, by Barcelona, won the 5 1/2 furlong race in 1:04.86 for owner Win More Stable Inc., and trainer Tim Ritchey, who also trained Smart Guy throughout a career that saw him capture the Pennsylvania Derby (g. III) among his six wins and $462,740 lifetime earnings.

Smart Guy, by Smarten, out of the Talc mare Royal Tali, stands for a fee of $1,500 ($1,000 for PA resident mares) at Fox Tale Stud in Coopersburg, PA. The full brother to multiple stakes winner Maragold Princess is free of Mr. Prospector, Northern Dancer, and Bold Ruler blood, making him a rare outcross opportunity.

And of course, I have seasons to this guy for 2007, if anyone is interested!

Just an update...Secretintelligence is now a stakes winner and multiple stakes-placed. He ran 2nd in the Dave's Friend at Laurel on Saturday, and his total earnings are now up to $272,980. If you're looking for a bargain stallion in the Midatlantic who can get you a major-league runner, look no further than SMART GUY.
