Pedigree Query

I am working on an analysis report and cannot track down set stud fees in 2004 on some stallions.

Right now I'm working on Castle Gandolfo.. and Danzig's fee seems to be listed as private. Anyone have any idea what a Danzig season fetched in 2004? Or any idea about Castle Gandolfo?

Danzig's 2004 fee was $200,000.

I tried to just look for 2004's fee and it kept showing that 2005 had him pensioned which of course we already knew. Took a bit of crafty googling but at rank #139 for 2003 sire of 2yos we have a 2004 stud fee of $200,000M (whatever the heck the M stands for, others on the list didn't have that).

First-year sire Castle Gandolfo dies in Chile

Walmac International first-year sire Castle Gandolfo died on September 5 at Teresa Solari Falabella's Haras Mocito Guapo in Chile, where he had shuttled for the 2004 Southern Hemisphere breeding season under a lease agreement.

Initial reports indicate the five-year-old son of Gone West flipped on his back and broke his neck, causing his immediate death.

Castle Gandolfo had covered 28 mares at Mocito Guapo before the accident and he was expected to cover 70 to 80 mares during the 2004 Southern Hemisphere season. Castle Gandolfo, who joined the Walmac roster for the 2004 Northern Hemisphere season in February, covered 76 mares at a fee of $6,000.

Out of the Northern Dancer mare Golden Oriole, who is a full sister to multiple English and Irish champion, English and Irish classic winner, and sire El Gran Senor, Castle Gandolfo won three of 14 starts while racing in Europe and the United States, including the 2001 Juddmonte Beresford Stakes (Ire-G3) as a juvenile.

He finished second in the 2001 Racing Post Trophy (Eng-G1) and the Criterium de Saint-Clloud (Fr-G1). Overall, Castle Gandolfo earned $214,408 while racing in England, Ireland, France, and the United States.—Michael Burns
