Langfuhr? Your thoughts? TIA

I like him in person and he seems to get runners from some lesser value mares. He is currently 8th on the General Sires List. Commercially he has been bad but will that change as the mares improve? His fee is going up this year. Will he ever be accepted at the sales? One of my mares is a great match for him but the lack of commercial appeal is of some concern especially with the rise in fee.

I haven't seen his yearlings or weanlings, but he's a breed-to-race sire. His stud fee will always have a ceiling if the babies don't look like beauty queens or tough guys at the sales. They have to look the part compared to others in a sale, in order to impress the buyers. If they had 3yo-in-training sales, he might shine.

I agree with Henthorn....his babies do not typically mature in time for the yearling sales, and often not as early 2 y/olds. He is definitely a breed to race sire.... there was, of course, Imperial Gesture....his first BC horse who almost won the Juvenile Fillies .

That being said...he has really been a great success. He was very strong at Vinery and even better now at Lane's End. He gets tough horses who can win at all distances and many run at 5 and 6. ... he gets a "big horse" every year, it seems. This year, Lawyer Ron, last year, Imperialism, the year before, Wando. Maybe I'm biased ..I have a 2 y/o by him who is looking good... but next year.

He is unfashionable but perhaps the second best son of Danzig in the world behind Danehill. I like him alot, but unless you get a precocious foal you cant breed to him with the hopes of selling a yearling.

I really like my mare with him but 25K is alot to pay with no commercial appeal. I have had some people in the industry try to tell me that he will become more commercial in time but a look at this year's Keeneland sales results doesn't look to appealing.

with that in mind, what do you guys think of Wando going for $7,500 this year?
