Any thoughts? I'm not sure what to think myself. I don't like Bellamy Road, but Artie Schiller may be interesting.

Is your question about Artie Schiller for general comments or in reference to a particular mare?
In general, I have not studied him much but I think he will get a good chance at stud because Ben Walden, Jr. has enough connections in the Bluegrass to see he gets some good mares. He was a consistent race horse of top class and carried his class and speed over several years of racing which proves his soundness. He has a balanced pedigree in terms of high GSV score, evenly distruibuted dosage profile, and (if you are a follower of Clive Harper's books) four "colt" and two "filly factors" which should allow him to cross with a lot of mares.

Now here is a new stallion to get excited about. I believe he offers good value at $15K to the RIGHT mare. Standing at HALF the fee of Leroidesanimaux, whom he spanked in the NetJets Mile. He was a good, durable runner and is free of Mr. Prospector AND Storm Cat. He didn't get the Eclipse.. but that doesn't mean he didn't deserve it.

He might be one of those stallions, which offspring are liking the new racetrack surfaces around kentucky and the VS in the near future.

I know someone who has seen this horse recently and commented that he was "the best $15,000 you'll spend in the breeding shed in 2007"

What is the RIGHT mare for Artie?

I'm NO expert, there are many, many Experts here to ask about pedigrees, but in my opinion, it is hard to say what is exactly RIGHT, but Hail To Reason line mares (Roberto, Kris S, etc.) would be on my list along with some Princequillo, and Ribot lines. Turn To and Bold Ruler might work also. He would be very open to try a cross with Storm Cat over Hail to Reason line mare, bringing Northern Dancer back through Storm Bird. This is a female family I'm a bit familiar with, I have Julie's Gem who is from the same line. Seems to like Fappiano. Otherwise I don't see much going on with other Mr. Prospector lines.. but Artie has such an "open" pedigree for this market. And you have to love a horse who is that sound.

I agree with Madalyn and Ben. I think he will particularly be a stallion to consider for the new surfaces. I have already recommended him to some clients, as a potential star.
Conduit mare profile: 7-4-4-5-6 11/11 1.05 15-13-15. Beautiful balance.

To me he would be the one of the view sending my filly, If I would think an out off europe mating.
But I am not a dirt man, I love turf racing. So I thick with this view side.
