Just noticed that 6 time G-1 winner and multi-millionaire Gentlemen is standing at stud at Applebite Farms in Cali for a $1,500 stud fee. I've been off the TB racing blogs for awhile, but was quite shocked to see such a magnificent horse at such a low stud fee, what happened?
I'm moving to Cali soon with a new job, think it would be worth the $1,500 to haul a mare over an breed to Gentlemen, would you?
Thanks
Jeff

Gentlemen hasn't been getting much in the way of runners.
He only has 1 Stakes Winner.
Of foals of racing age, he only has 58% starters and 30% winners. His AEI v. CI is also pretty weak.
The Blood horse states he is standing for 5k. (Very possible the blood horse website is out of date) A 5k stud fee could be very hard to swallow since the average earnings of his starters is 20k, and the median earnings is 5k.
Others on the board with more knowledge could fill in with more details.

The Jockey Club statistics indicate he was only bred to 4 mares in 2006 and 10 mares in 2005 (Ky) of which four were reported live foals. As stated previously he only has one stakes winner from 6 crops and 282 foals of racing age. His lifetime AEI is .63 vs a CI of 1.61.
