What are your thoughts about Wekiva Springs as a sire?
If you were going to breed one of the following mares to him, which one would it be?
sister breeze - defrere
ongoing melody - go and go
share the spirit - bankers gold
ms pie - The Vid
whale of a deal - that's a nice
Thanks

Wekiva Springs
Wekiva Springs get a very sound, medium to late maturing foal. He has a very high per cent of starters (about 80% if memory serves). I was encourged to see that he covered 64 mares last breeding season. Good sound breed to race sire. His average earnings per starter is not high but most of his runners have raced in Florida.

WS is also a nice outcross for many mares. Plus, you're guaranteed to get a grey foal!
I got to visit him at Double Diamond a few years ago. He's one classy dude.

OK, I have a 2007 breeding to WS. Now I need to decide which mare I am going to take to him. I also have a season to Sand Ridge and American Spirit. I know that I should probably post this question in the Mating advice category but since I have already started it here I will go ahead and ask. Of the five mares that I listed how would you match three of them up to the three stallions? I have my favorites but I would appreciate any input that anyone else may have. I am breeding to race the foals myself. Some of the mares ran a little and some have decent breeding and four of them have siblings at the tracks now that are running in some nice allowance and stake races. I am also trying to get a breeding to Lucky Lionel and I own a son of Broad Brush out of Mz Zill Bear ( Broad And Locust). Thanks for your time.

I'm not Denise....but Wekiva Springs is a 'homozygous grey' - which means both of his parents gave him a copy of the grey gene, and so he will always pass one on.

Sister Breeze cause I used to be her groom. How is she doing. I saw Wekiva Last week and for a old guy he is a handsome horse. Let me do a nick and I will get back to you. Give Sissy a big Kiss from her former Groom
