hi there!
I own Eltish and he is now in New York for 2007 at $3500. In the thoroughbred times Dec 23rd "#3 in the nation of 73% winners from starters and #1 in New York!" And he just arrived! He's a proven sire with excellent breeding, conformation, and a race record to boot!
Need any info? Please let me know!

I don't know if you have followed my posts on this forum but I have loved Eltish for the past 3 years. I think he is an excellent stallion, especially for a 3,500 stud fee. I have a privately devised system and he scores extremely well in my calculations. I consider him to be one of the best "breed to race" stallions in the entire country.
I have three mares that are candidates to send to him this year maybe you could tell me which order you would rank these mares. One of these mares I am strongly considering based upon phenotype but I would rather not say which one until you have given me your opinion. I wouldn't want my thoughts to influence your own opinions.
What conformation faults have you noticed in his progeny? What type of conformations flaws are acceptable in the mares? What would you avoid in the mares?
The three mares are Bridle Wave, Cullingtree Road (a daughter of Bridle Wave, by Doneraile Court, and What a Queen, by Waqoit.
I also have Olimax, Call Me Cassidy, Too Sassy For U and Gold Canadian. I would appreciate having your thoughts on any of these possible matings. I am not a huge fan of the Werk Nick ratings so if that is the extent of your analysis then you can save the effort. I can get that information on my own.

bcassidy,
Im really glad you are interested in Eltish. And if you've been following him then you already know he is #3 in the nation with 73% winners from starters and #1 in NY. We bought this horse because I have many mares and was tired of paying fees. I wanted a horse that was a good outcross for the majority of my mares, had a good race record, speed, stamina, class breeding, and good confirmation. Eltish was the answer, undoubtedly.
I have really noticed that Eltish stamps his front end on the majority of his foals. Therefore the common faults (toe in/out base narrow) are corrected with him. I also noticed he is rather long(which doesnt count against him). He is not built like a sprinter and very able to go classic distance (as he did) with speed. He excelled on the turf and dirt at speed and distance and retired sound at 6.His foals tend to be precocious 2 year olds that mature early, but are able to last and stretch out to fine older horses.
Live Oak Stud bred their mare Sultry Sun (dam of Sultry Song) last year and this year. I saw the yearling and was told he was worth $250k. They still maintain 5 breeds per year to Eltish.
Your mares seem to be bred to go long. I think Eltish would help maintain that classic two turn style and add a little speed.
Bridle Wave seems like a fantastic mare. I really like her breeding and the Sauce Boat on her bottom line. Eltish was bred to a Sauce Boat mare in 2000, resulting in a filly named Bon Jour Paris (I have a pic). She was bred by Live Oak Stud and won $61,284. She is now in foal to Skimming and in the Barretts Jan 07 mixed sale.
What A Queen. Waquoit is a personal favorite of mine. I have galloped his progeny and was pleased with there size, maturation and movement. This horse would also go long, and probably sell very well.
Cullingtree Road. Although heavy with the Seattle slew line, Eltish would help with the Turn To/Northern Dancer blood.
Your other mares seem like variable canidates as well. I really like the older breeding in the book of mares you have.
I hope this helped. Hope to hear from you soon!

i cant really say I have thought about it. He was placed on the back burner these past few years and only got a few mares. We just got him in Sep. and he is 14. I got him for my mares but figured he could really prosper in NY as well as NY breeders. However, we did have a great AP Indy mare that goes back and forth to AUS. Her yearling by Yonaguska sold great at the FT SAR july 06 sale. It is an interesting point, I will have to take into consideration. Are your mares in NZ? Let me know if you are interested!
