Storm Cat is getting up There

Postby Toccet02 » Wed Jan 17, 2007 7:51 pm

If I remember right and he's an '83, he's getting up there in age. As much as he is discussed and fought over, I don't believe I've heard anything about his aging ramifications...is his fertility still as good as say 5 years ago? Is his book limited or reduced slightly in any way? Any health problems?
He's treated as a perfect breeding machine...just curious as to any word on the street...uh, lane? Pasture?
All shouting does is make you lose your voice.

Well, I do know that he hasn't had a BC entrant in 2 years and I believe Bluegrass Cat was his only Grade 1 (American) winner in 2006.

But, I'm sure Mr Sekiguchi will be standing stud somewhere next year. His legacy is well in tact.

He doesn't seem to be slowing down. The Jockey Club site reports he was bred to 111 mares this year. Last year he was bred to 109 which resulted in 88 live foals this year for an 81% strike rate.

we certainly shouldn't write him off, remember bold ruler got wajima and secretariat late in his career, nijinski got lammtarra and Mr P got Fu Peg, there's probably a real star on the way
