We went to Mouse House farm in PA today where Dr. Bonnie LaMonte stands Lyracist. He covered some mares last year and has foals due from soon to April. This is his first published year and what a horse, what a bargain.

He is such a beautiful animalg, stands 17H - long strong legs, he moves so nicely. He retired sound after racing eight seasons in stakes company. He's a pretty boy. Is it just me or is that the weirdest slope of ground he could possibly stand on?

You can knock a few bucks off if you foal in PA which, given the talented little ones coming out of there in the last few years, you might just take them up on--I'm sure there's something in the water.

I think in PA they feed them the water from the Hersery's factory!!! Like willy wonka.. yep. It grows better horses..yep, maybe its chocolate milk. good for growing bones..

Yeah very cute name, both farm and horse. I sure hope they don't use the actual stuff from the Gene Wilder movie--it was cold muddy water, yeck. The poor German kid said he swallowed a bunch of it. Yummy

The Jockey Club reports that Lyracist was bred to 3 mares in 2006.

Yes, that's me - and I do what I say. I'm breeding one mare to Mo Mon, in NJ, then foaling in PA. My other mare is going to be bred to Lyracist after she foals her Real Quiet baby. Once again - no conspiracy here! Just breeding to the best horses and best situations.

Nice pedigree and awfully nice looking lad. What a pity. Here's a horse that raced a LONG time, compared to most, and retired sound...yet will get overlooked by breeders who'd rather go to some crooked, unraced son of Storm Cat or a son of Unbridled's Song who raced twice. And pay 3 or 4 times as much.
