Sir Cherokee?

Any ideas on this guy as a stallion prospect? I don't remember how old his first crop is, yearlings I think. I think looks wise he's quite striking although a little light boned in the legs but that may be a trick of the photo. A little early to see how his sire will fare as a sire of sires and his bottom line doesn't look like there is much to go on as far as producing sires or broodmares? Is $7,500 too much for a pretty pony who could run a bit?

He should 3.5k tops... MAYBE 5k. He's over-priced. I would look eslewhere. But beauty (and value!) is in the eye of the beholder. If you like him, get him. Im sure you could whittle them down some.

That's kind of what I was thinking but I thought, maybe I'm just missing something.

Personally it seems to me that almost all the stallions are a bit (or a lot) overpriced right now for what they have produced. Esp. the higher up the ladder you go! I think going by his albeit limited sales so far it might be easier to wait and find a pretty pony already on the ground for less!

I don't know if it would be able to run much but I like this mare for a sport type and she looks like she'd complement him well.
Dang why do I never have money?!

Gee, summerhorse. You had seemed interested in breeding to Sir Cherokee, but now you can't afford $5K for a nice mare ready to foal a baby by him. You'd probably save $10 t0 $15K as the stud fee is only part of the breeding game.
Best wishes,
SB

I was asking about his possibilities as a stallion prospect in general. Nowhere did I say I had a mare to breed TO him otherwise I would have put her info. up to see how she matched with him. Mine is far too old to start on that now. I was asking about HIS merits alone because I like him but I wasn't too sure about that fee.
