Sahm dead...

Damn. Very good and affordable breed to race stallion. Should be an excellent broodmare sire. Been looking for a good daughter of his for a while. RIP pretty boy.

I am really sorry to hear about Sahm. I saw him this last June and really liked him. I am kicking myself for never getting a mare to him. He was capable of throwing some decent runners. I agree that he was a very good breed to race type stallion.

I agree.

The one thing that seems to be a constant reminder with these announcements is to breed each season as if the stallions won't be around next year. They don't always perish, but sometimes they move out reach, retire, are sold etc.....

His is from a great family, I really like Marju as a potential broodie as well. I nearly bought a big roomy Marju mare at the Autumn thoroughbred sale but I don't need another mare at present. Salsabil's ful brother song of tara has a good one going around called spirit of tara too.

A great loss. Was Sahm Salsabil's only son? I cannot find any others.
Has Marju a son at stud?
He was Salsabil's only son. This is the story from the Racing Post:

Sahm put down after illness
SAHM, the only son of champion Salsabil, has died after a long illness involving his intestinal tract.
The 13-year-old son of Mr Prospector, who spent his entire stud career at Shadwell Farm, was put down on Tuesday at the Rood & Riddle Equine Clinic in Kentucky.
Bred by Shadwell Estates, Sahm was trained by John Dunlop to win his first two starts, a maiden and a conditions race, both at York, by a combined 14 lengths.
He was not discredited when second to Putra in his next start, the Group 2 Champagne Vintage Stakes, but was relegated to last after causing interference.
Injury kept Sahm off the track for a year and he reappeared at with Kiaran McLaughlin in the US, for whom he added three more wins, on dirt and turf, including the Grade 2 Knickerbocker Handicap.
Sahm retired to Shadwell Farm inKentucky in 2000. Although he had as few as 16 foals in his second crop, he has sired six stakes winners to date including the Group 2 winner Mustameet. The Kevin Prendergast-trained colt has so far won seven starts and remains in training this year.
Prendergast also trained Sahm's Listed-winning daughter Adaala, and he signed the €210,000 ticket for a Sahm filly out of Group 3 winner Nadwah at last year's Goffs Million Sale.
A half-brother to the high-class fillies Bint Salsabil and Alabaq, Sahm was from the immediate family of Marju and Second Empire. He was due to stand the 2007 season at a fee of $5,000.
The more I get to know people, the more I love animals.

Yes. :( She only produced five foals before her death.
