Has anybody eyeballed one and do we know how they're appearing right now? I know it's only March but the September sales will be here before we know it. Is anybody doing a July select sale? Seems like somebody used to but stopped--Keeneland?
I'd love to know the buzz in general as I'm sure some folks are excited to see how he'll do. It may not be race results from his first crop of 2yos just yet but as we all know if they get snapped up like hot cakes compared to his fee, with a few ringing endorsements thrown in from buyers, could help him out. High return on the stud fee at market makes the breed-to-sell folks happy. So any rumblings?

Well, Smarty certainly is a small horse...I got to meet him a couple years ago and was surprised at how easily I could see over his back.
Does anyone know what's going on with the Musicanti colt? Any news? I'm no great judge of horses, but the pics I saw of him as a foal were awesome.
please oh please let them give him a good name...the last thing anybody needs is "I'masmarttune," or something to that effect

It is a sobering thought, for instance, that when Mozart was my age he had been dead for two years.

I've seen a few. They aren't big, but they aren't tiny. They have enough bone and good hip and balance. There was a filly at FT November (Shoppingwithbetty, by Danzig) that had an athletic walk and I liked her.
The buzz on him is kinda neutral to slightly positive, which of course for a $100,000 sire seems negative.

I've heard from everyone that's seen his foals that they're "average" height...which isn't good for sales, because in the ring, "size matters."
However, Smarty Jones has been bred to a lot of mares with stamina pedigrees because his has so many speed influences and nobody wants him siring bunny rabbits (ala what was done with Seattle Slew and other top speed type stallions). So, if his first two crops can show speed and carry it, his sales figures should be just fine despite their size.
