whatever happened to S. Jovite? Did he die was he packed off to Japan? Are mares of his hard to come by?

I thought he was pensioned at Payson, but could be wrong.
He was a bust at stud almost equal to Dayjur...Euro champion, initially standing for $50,000 fee in the 90's (when fees were down) and did nothing of note.

He was a horse that could run all day and Payson bred him to mares that either ran all day or were bred to run all day. He wasn't a failure at stud because he sired what he figured to sire - foals that needed two miles just to work up a sweat. Had St Jovite been given some speedier type mares to cover, he most likely would have sired some racehorses and not just slow plodders.

Is he pensioned for lack of interest by mare owners or because of age/fertility? Too bad a breed to race owner could not take a speedy mare to him now....

I thought he was sent to Ireland or GB a few years ago? And the horse that stood with him (MIND BLANK) was pensioned.

St. Jovite, winner of two of Europe's greatest races, will stand at Michael Bowe's Greentree Stud in County Tipperary, Ireland.
The 17-year-old son of Pleasant Colony previously stood at Virginia Kraft Payson's Payson Stud near Lexington.
A French and Irish champion, St. Jovite scored his biggest wins in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes (Eng-I) and Budweiser Irish Derby (Ire-I) and ran second in the Ever Ready Epsom Derby (Eng-I).
St. Jovite's nine stakes winners include such graded winners as Amerique and French group winner Equerry. Amerique won the San Juan Capistrano Invitational Handicap (gr. IT).
St. Jovite is one of four stakes winners from his dam, Kentucky Broodmare of the Year Northern Sunset (by Northfields).

Thanks Geo, there's a mare by him for here in Aus and he was such a super racehorse... there's also a pleasant colony mare in foal to mossman, was thinking I would go along to Newmarket and try to see if they slipped under guards of the Danehill centric breeders here

First Irish foals for St Jovite

ST JOVITE, sire of the Group 1 performer Equerry, has his first Irish-bred foals on the ground.
The 1992 European champion three-year-old stood his first season at Michael Bowe's Greentree Stud last year, having previously stood at Payson Farm in Kentucky. Among his first foals is a filly out of Always Greener,a daughter of Vision, who is from the family of smart two-year-old Elite Princess. Bowe is also particularly pleased with a colt out of My Moon, a winning daughter of Marju.
“St Jovite has stamped all the foals I've seen and they're cracking, athletictypes,” said Bowe.
