How about Singletary for soundness and class?

Postby tbrace » Thu Apr 12, 2007 3:27 pm

With all these two year old speed balls with sore legs out there already this year, how about a horse like Singletary for soundness and class?

He wins a million point seven, wins the Breeder's Cup Mile, starts 25 times or so, and runs two through five years old.

Could he be worth a try? Will his grass work help on artificial tracks?

Any thoughts?

He doesn't have the greatest female family but he was a top class racehorse. Kind of in the same mold as Castledale with the exception that he's a grade l winner on both dirt and turf..

He received a fairly good size book of mares his first season-don't know how solid they were but he'll need a good one or two from that first crop to move forward as a sire.

Singletary was a beautifully managed racehorse and they are doing a good job of promoting him by offering free seasons for decent mares. I would point out only that he sold as a yearling for $3,200.

His female family is deeper than it appears at first glance. The Lea Lark clan has produced Miswaki, Southern Halo, and Jump Start among others. He's a nice prospect for the right breeders.

Not to mention champ Leallah, Go Marching, High Brite, Tobougg, Union Cat, etc.
