Postby tmqh » Sun Apr 15, 2007 8:19 pm

Trying to locate this stallion. I know he stands in Indiana now, but am having a hard time getting contact info. Anyone know? Thanks in advance

I picked him up from Buck Pond and brought him to Illinois. He will likely finish the season here and go to Kansas for next season.

I'm smitten with him. He's the quietest stallion I've ever handled.

can you be so kind as to describe him: size, conformation, fee etc.

Could you do a more lengthy narrative on how you came to be in possession instead of where he was advertised? Thanks.

I'm not really free to expand on the details... but

He's rather small... around 15.3h maybe touching 16h. His legs are straight, very short cannon bones, very clean legged for a horse who put in 40 starts. His knee angles are a little iffy, sometimes I think he's a touch back at the knee, but then I look again and think he might be a little over, basically I think he's just not exceptionally clean in that joint. He has a fabulous big shoulder and a HUGE hind end. He's a tad long in the back, but has a nice sloping croup. He's an attractive mover with a lot of action in his hind end (ie - he's not just bulk back there, that's athletic muscle).

I have some pictures being developed and I will get his professional comformation shot via e-mail anytime (probably will post tomorrow morning) so definately make decisions for yourself.

He's dead quiet, like I said. I may actually try to ride him at some point ;)

I don't know what his availablity is to the public quite yet. If someone is very interested please PM me.

OMGosh, thank you sooooooo much for the update and new photos of him!
I adored his sire like no other before or since and I often wondered where Composer ended up after he left Ky. I never really figured he'd stay there, tough but not brilliant racehorse who liked the turf....and from the Alydar sire line...kiss of death in Ky it seems.

Your so lucky to have him, even if it isn't permanent. Give him a big kiss on the nose from one of his dad's biggest fans. I was a teenager when Easy Goer raced and my dream had been to go to Ky. and Claiborne one day to see him. Sadly, I never got that chance. It's nice to know one of his 1st sons is still doing so well (and he has his sire's big butt!) :)

Its funny, I was just told this whole story from my pedigree analyst this morning. She works at Buck Pond and is the one responsible for him being at their farm in the first place. You did a good deed and the two of you are lucky to have found each other!

So, Composer initially stood at Mare Haven and was there for some time. Where did he go from there, and how did he end up at Buck Pond back in Ky only to be sent out again?

I am not going to give all the specifics here, I will leave that up to his current owner since they have already posted on this thread. I will say that he was only at Buck Pond for a matter of days awaiting shipment to his new home however.
