Sky Classic

Out of 10 foals out of Conquistador Cielo mares, Sky Classic has 7 winners, 3 grade I winners (in the US, Canada, and Mexico) and 2 millionaires. He also has two very useful full sibling winners ($60k and $80k) out of a Marquetry mare.

If you have a CC or Marquetry mare, that's a heck of a deal for $12,500.

If your mare happens to be Conquistador Cielo over a Nijinsky-line horse, so much the better for you. With that cross, Sky Classic has two foals and two champions in Thornfield and Sky Conqueror.

Hi Kimberley,

Interesting and thanks for sharing.

I'd imagine that even if every buyer read your post at the Keeneland Yearling Sales that a Sky Classic foal out of a Conquistador Cielo mare still wouldn't bring much and that's too bad.

Regards,

Pete

This stallion is DNA ... all foal can be MBNA inrolled.

Hi Pete,

I think the only way Sky Classic would be commercial is if the foal happened to be out of Dance Smartly herself, and then half the buyers would flinch at the inbreeding. And you're right, it's too bad.

Then again, for the homebreeders who do their homework (like Sky Conqueror's breeder/owner)...congratulations!

As a clarification to my last post, Thornfield is a millionaire in Canadian money but not American.

Happy to see one of Sky Classic's babies win a big race. He was a top class racehorse.
