What do the following horses have in common?

Macho Uno
Chilukki
Housebuster
Bop
Josh's Madelyn
Big American Force
All In With Aces
Atfirst Blush
The Wizard Rocks
Higher World

And these horses?

Yankee Doodle Boy
Acclimate
Unbridled
Cahill Road
Rubikisses
Mending Fences

Every horse on this list is either a stakes winner or is a winner of at least $150,000. All of them carry the foundation Tatan Farms stallion Rough'n'Tumble and mare Aspidistra (via Great Above or Dr Fager) and the French-bred stamina stallion Wild Risk. The first group carries Wild Risk through Blushing Groom and the second group carries Wild Risk through Le Fabuleux. Modern (currently standing or recently pensioned or deceased) who have been successful with this cross Mt Livermore, Holy Bull, Rubiano, Forestry, Quiet American, Peaks and Valleys, and Rahy. In addition, Carson City has two winners out of Great Above mares. It seems that the run all day stamina of Wild Risk is given an overlay of brilliant speed through Dr Fager and Great Above, as you will notice that most of the horses on this list want something in the 8-9f range.

Of this group, the most successful conduit has been Mt Livermore with Great Above. The mating that produced Flashy Bull can be thought of as either an extension of the cross that produced Macho Uno or an extended reverse cross of Housebuster. Either way, it has led to 2 Gr-1 winners with Holy Bull. Not too shabby! Mt Livermore over Manila on the dam's side opens Flashy Bull's pedigree (as a stallion prospect) to Nijinsky (especially through Green Dancer--see the pedigree of Confessional) and Storm Cat.

Those who have considered breeding to Giacomo might wish to keep this in mind. Since Giacomo lacked up-front speed but had a huge closing kick, adding some speed throug Mt Livermore, Carson City, Peaks and Valleys, or Runaway Groom. Runaway Groom and sons are especially interesting as he has shown a marked affinity for Tom Fool (found through Stop the Music with Giacomo).

Woke Up Dreamin has no Wild Risk, but he has a double-whammy of Holy Bull up top and Storm Cat below. Rahy and Mt Livermore mares seem like an ideal fit here.

Orientate could also benefit from this cross. His best foal to date is out of an Unbridled mare--doubled up on Wild Risk and brings in the crucial Dr Fager. He has two foals out of Holy Bull mares, one of whom is placed and the other is too young to start.
