injury database

Postby Toccet02 » Tue Jun 26, 2007 11:25 am

Does anyone know of a database that contains info on racer's injuries or ailments, along with sire and damsire information?
If not, I'm starting my own!

chrb.ca.gov/vetslist.pdf is a weekly update of all CA racehorses.

Presumably, each state and/or racetrack keeps a similar sort of record. Convincing them to release it to the public is another matter. I speak of some experience, having to lobby the CHRB to make the above link available.

You have a great idea. Good luck to you.

Oh duh yeah, I remember about that reporting system...but they have been doing it for a month almost and I don't see a database link.
Well, mine will be very incomplete, but for my own education, I think I'll start one anyway.

So guys, when you complain that a horse in injured or ill, pls. include the pedigree if you can!
Thanks guys.
I hear statements like Storm Cats have bad knees, and UBS have bad feet, and I always want to see the numbers to back it up, and wonder if that's aggravated by certain crosses, etc.
Not that I don't believe, but it's good to have data.

There is too much $ invested in bloodstock, to have all of these injuries reported, as this info will have an impact on those Tb sales around the globe.

When I started my research on injuries noone would give me the names of those Tb that were injured. If you seek those names you will find a way as i did. Good luck in your search, Louis.

I'll do what I can....gotta lot going on, but it will at least be "fun" for my own edification. It will probably be very "mainstream", since as Louis pointed out, the little horses that retire or break down may remain a secret as far as identity.
WHATEVER I get will still be more reliable than recalling from memory.
