Where have you been for the last year? Hiding in a treehouse?
I'm still waiting for Half Ours to get a Grade 1 before Taylor Made peddles him.

What does a price tag on crutches look like?
In other news... Boca Grande ran a bang up 3rd in a 4 horse Mother Goose field beaten 8 1/2 lengths which should set her up nicely for her showdown with Rags to Riches in a few weeks in the Coaching Club.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Political Force is the first G1 winner for Unbridled's Song over 1-1/4 miles in North America. Allen Jerkins has done a great job with this colt; too many trainers break down Unbridled's Song progeny before they get a real chance to show their stuff over a distance. Song's progeny seem to develop speed early but I suspect they are also horses that would benefit from some patience and a chance to grow into themselves as they usually aren't small. Unfortunately, patience and a high auction price don't seem to go together; most owners seem determined to try to get their money back out of their purchases ASAP, which for horses that show early speed in training but actually need some development time is bad news. Even if the trainer's smart enough to realize that the critter needs more time than it appears at first glance, the owner may not be so bright and push to have the animal start racing before it's truly ready. Voila, another breakdown as immature bones and joints fail to hold up to racing stress. CA Michael made a great point on another thread that patience will overcome a lot of problems if the animal is just given to time to mature a bit, and patience is something Allen Jerkins sure isn't short of. Maybe Taylor Made should insist that he train all of Unbridled's Song's foals!
Both these wins were over subpar fields, but a G1 win is still a G1 win. I'd say Taylor Made will look back at June 30 as a very good day indeed.

Would Taylor Made be happy if Mr Jerkens trained all the Unbridled's Song progeny?
Mr Jerkens trains for owner/breeders. The Unbridled's Song sales average would go KA-PLUNK (who wants a horse that wins a Grade 1 at age four anymore?) and all those high priced Unbridled's Song progeny that Taylor Made splashes all over its website would have to be replaced by Mr. Jerkens owner/breeder success stories of Unbridled's Song progeny that win Grade 1s at ages four and up. Ack!
Mr. Jerkens would turn Unbridled's Song into a "breed to race" sire - say it ain't so!
Just a thought about the lame excuse (pardon the pun) that Unbridled's Songs race too early and fall apart because of it: Political Force ran in stakes at age two, as did Octave. Unbridled's Songs fall apart because connections aren't patient? Come up with another excuse - bad feet are bad feet....give me a break!!!

I'm sure that Taylor Made won't hesitate to claim that G1 victory by Political Force yesterday. I have no doubt they will have a lovely ad in TDN and a big notation of it on his Stallion Register page.
Edit: My bad! They already had an ad in today's edition, proclaiming:

Why yes I have been up in my treehouse for the last year, skulking around until I could dangle Unbridled's Song's two newest Grade 1 winners in your face.
It's hard to blame Unbridled's Song for the way Half Ours looks, he looks more like his dam side that his sire.
Would you like to know the type of tree my house is built in??? An apple tree, in fact.
