We saw some Marino babies out in California the other day. They were very, very nice.

Anybody own some? I think his first yearlings sell this year. If they run like they look, look out.

How is that farm to work with, in your opinions? (Rancho San Miguel).

I haven't been out Rancho San Miguel in over a year, but it is one of the best managed farms in California, due in large part to Clay Murdock. Clay is a very approachable and knowledgeable manager, who is interested in the breeders' opinion. It is a well run operation.

First class operation. Clay is great to work with and very open to questions and discussion. I had my mare bred year this year, and she came back looking fantastic. I am also intrigued by Marino Marini, and am considering him for my mare.

Pav,

What is your mare bred like, and how does she look physically.

My mare is by Honour and Glory out of a Halo-line mare. Her breeding suggest stamina over speed. A cross with Marino Marini would provide 3x4 inbreeding to Relaunch and 4x4 to Halo. Is that too close (not quite sure where the line is drawn on inbreeding vs. line-breeding)? She is relatively tall (over 16h) and big-boned, and she toes out slightly in the front. Any thoughts on this cross or any others in CA (already thinking about next season)? Thanks.
