We got Gentlemen and now we got Behrens.

Heh, I doubt even California would take him. East Coast so the hunter/jumper folks can play with him. He's one HOMELY (as were most PCs) looking beast but the few foals I've seen, he does transmit good bone and size. NY/Penn... maybe VA or NH.

Good call... really surprised he came west instead of going to New England.

Thanks Sam, but this is one I wouldn't have mind being wrong on. Behrens will move to 38th on California's sires list right behind Gentlemen, while currently 149th on Kentucky's leading sires list.
Who knows perhaps he'll work out here, though I doubt it since he had better mares in Kentucky than he will get in Ca. And the beat goes on.

No one brings sires to New England any more.
But Virgina, or somewhere thereabouts, would not have surprised me.

Hallo,
in the U.S are standing a lot of stallions unknow in Europe and several are bred in South America.
This is the case of the stallion Gentlemen (y Robin de Bois), nevertheless he belongs to a damline, who already procuded the successfull Sire Danzig, see Danehill, Green Desert, Polish Navy, Fath, Mujahid, Polish Precident, Bertolini etc. The common ancestor is Petitioner.
Kentucky's lost can became California's win.

Worst Values, $5,000 and under
1. Gentlmen ($5,000 Applebite Farms, CA) - One stakes winner from 130 starters... drags his mares down like few others do (.62 AEI vs. 1.66 CI)... and they still expect mare owners to write a check for $5,000? Should be standing in Montana for $750.

Regardless of Gentlemen's family, as an individual Gentlemen has under performed as a sire. Moving Gentlemen to California where he will have a lesser quality book of mares is unlikely to improve his prospects.
California has a history of taking horses that have not performed well in Kentucky and utilized them for a regional market where they could fill a niche, however many were abysmal failures at stud to begin with. Thinking that somehow he wasn't given ample opportunity or that Kentucky overlooked a stallion prospect does not fit the profile in the case of Gentlemen.
Gentlemen was a very good race horse and from what I can see on the web, a very nice looking individual. As a stallion however, he is subpar because he hasn't been able to pass on the qualities of his family and himself.
