Stonewall?

Postby KAL » Fri Aug 10, 2007 6:04 pm

Well... I had heard some rather interesting (some might say unsettling) things about Stonewall, but I felt they would always be okay because of the presence of Ken Wilkens.

Hmmm.... he just annouced his departure. I got to know him pretty well through Vinery and the sales. I have always found him to be a solid presence in any operation, a honest straight shooter, and a class act, so when he allows that he found himself "...on the other side of the fence...", I have to wonder how bad things might really have been.

Whatever happened to George Hoffmeister? (Somewhat rhetorical)... Any thoughts that the same might happen to the Stonewall crew?

I don't know anything, but when the departing figure is quoted like he was, something stinks.

Does anyone know

a) if they're still in on Lawyer Ron; and
b) what happened to British Blue, who was advertised as standing there then disappeared from the roster?

British Blue was put back into training, but has only 2 works listed, one from late May and another about a month after that. I don't know if he was not fertile or if he didn't like girls or what.

I've wondered about Lawyer Ron, too, since he's run in the Hines colors from the Met Mile on. And Stonewall isn't listed as part of the ownership. Whereas he was previously (since the Derby) running in Stonewall's colors and programs indicated his ownership as Stonewall and Hines Estate.

New York rules only allow the listing of controlling partners and their colors. Stonewall owns majority interest in Lawyer Ron but does not control any aspect of his racing career, including who trains or rides him.

Really? I thought I recalled reading that it was Stonewall's decision to transfer him to Pletcher.
